(FreedomWire.org) – Joe Biden delivered the commencement speech to graduating midshipmen at the Naval Academy last Friday. During his speech, Biden told another story about his own life, that can’t possible be true.

Biden told the midshipmen that he applied to the Naval Academy in 1965. He told a tale of applying to the Academy with a letter from then-Delaware Senator J. Caleb Boggs. However, in 1965, Biden graduated from the University of Delaware. He wouldn’t have been applying for graduate courses at the Naval Academy because there were none.

“I was told the Class of ’72 is here. I was appointed to the academy in 1965 by a senator who I was running against in 1972 — never planned it that way. I wasn’t old enough to be sworn in. I was only 29 years old when I was running,” Biden said.

“He was a fine man. His name is J. Caleb Boggs,” the president went on. “I didn’t come to the academy because I wanted to be a football star. And you had a guy named Staubach and Bellino here. So I went to Delaware.”

“But all kidding aside,” Biden continued on Friday, “the best line of the debate was after it’s all over, the announcer, the questioner — who was a good guy, but supported my opponent, who was a good man as well, I might add — and he said, ‘Sen. Boggs, is there anything else you want to say?’ And he said, ‘Yes, just one thing.’ And he took the microphone. He said, ‘You know, Joe, if you accepted my commission to the — my appointment to the academy,’ he said, ‘you’d still have one year and three months’ active duty and I’d have no problems right now.’”

The New York Post reports that this story is a new one. Political journalists covering Biden’s speech were caught by surprise at this new addition to Biden rhetorical repertoire. Biden is fond of storytelling, especially if he is the star of the story. He has been called out many times for making up stories to pad his resume or bring empathy from an audience. It looks like narcissistic personality disorder. There was no mention of applying to the Naval Academy in his 2008 autobiography “Promises to Keep”. By all appearances, this is a new story he pulled out of his hat, perhaps to bond with the midshipmen, to have them think he’s one of them. Who knows?

Biden likes to talk about his dream of being a football star in his college days. Staubach and Bellino are the only two Navy football players to win the Heisman Trophy. Biden likes to say he wanted to be a “star” football player. Perhaps so but he received five student draft deferments during his college years citing childhood asthma.

The US military was heavily involved in the Vietnam War by the mid-1960s and had Biden attended the academy, he would have had to serve in the Navy upon graduation.

Biden received five student draft deferments during his four years at the University of Delaware and subsequent three years at Syracuse University College of Law.

After Biden graduated law school in 1968, he reportedly was deemed unfit for military service by citing childhood asthma. His memoir doesn’t mention the condition while describing his football exploits or his work as a lifeguard. A report released in November by his doctor also doesn’t mention asthma.

He seems to insert himself and his life stories into whatever the occasion is, whether it is an academic graduation or even tragedies, like when he claimed to have spent time at Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh after a mass murder happened at the synagogue. That story was not true. As happens, his staff had to clean up Biden’s remarks and say that memory was of a phone call to the rabbi of the synagogue. It is just unseemly that Biden keeps propping himself up, especially since he’s been a public figure for 50 years and his statements can be verified.

For instance, Biden also exaggerated the number of times he had been to U.S.-involved war zones over the years.

“I’ve been in and out of Iraq and Afghanistan of over 40 I think 38 times,” the president said.

Then Biden followed up by implying his son died in combat. “My son spent a year in Iraq, won the Bronze Star, Conspicuous Service Medal. I lost him.”

A spokesperson for Biden’s National Security Council (NSC) said Friday the correct number of times Biden visited Iraq and Afghanistan is 21.

During the same speech, Biden made a false statement regarding North Korea.

“Did anybody think, when I called for sanctions against Russia, in addition to NATO, did Australia, Japan, North Korea … would stand up and support?” he said, confusing North Korea for South Korea.

After accusing Russian President Vladimir Putin of attempting to wipe out Ukrainian culture with his invasion, he then leaned in to whisper what may have been a scary reminder to most of the 1,200 graduating midshipmen: “I’m your commander-in-chief.”

(FreedomWire.org) – There has been an unprecedented leak of a recording of a top-secret meeting of China’s People’s Liberation Army leadership. During the meeting, senior military and  the Communist Party of China  officials are heard discussing detailed plans to “smash” the military forces of Taiwan. There are also detailed discussions of logistical support for the invasion involving various companies that will provide needed supplies. Maintaining the security of key regions of mainland China from any sort of counterattacks is also discussed. The leaked audio raises several questions, including who would have carried out the leak and whether this is an actual plan or simply a preparatory exercise.

The first question to address is whether this meeting was a discussion of active plans for an invasion with a targeted date to attack or not. An attack on Taiwan from China is always possible, but they could also just be going over and refining their strategy in a preparatory exercise meant to intimidate.

The second question is who would have risked their lives to leak out the audio of this meeting. The Chinese are notoriously good at keeping their inside information secret and the penalties for any perceived disloyalty are harsh beyond belief. If this leak is real, there may be some dissent among the ranks going on, with someone being opposed to an invasion of Taiwan.

According to analysis from Jennifer Zeng, host of Inconvenient Truths, she said, “that audio they mentioned quite a few names of factories, trains, companies.” Zeng said she checked all the names that they mentioned in the audio and matched them with the public record and they all match. “A factory they mentioned really produced drones and that sort of machinery. They knew what they were talking about.”

A former senior Trump administration official said the audio was “meant to intimidate.”

Steve Yates, chair of the China Policy Initiative, told TheDCNF that it was “extremely unlikely” the video was an unauthorized leak, noting that Chinese authorities would “follow up” with the leaker.

“So we have to assume this content was meant to influence as much as inform,” Yates said. “The CCP is now saying the quiet part out loud. The challenge for the U.S. and allies is that there is no way to discern between exercises meant to influence versus actual mobilization to attack.”

The alleged leaked audio follows President Joe Biden’s recent visit to Asia and comes only weeks after China conducted a “rehearsal” for a Taiwan invasion between May 6-8.

Zeng said China is clearly in the process of decoupling from the West, citing the Chinese government forcing companies like Didi Chuxing to delist from the New York Stock Exchange. She also pointed to Xi Jinping’s stated goal of achieving “internal circulation of the economy” and China’s efforts to buy up crops from overseas as well as the recent “insane lockdown order” in Shanghai as evidence of China’s intention to decouple.

(FreedomWire.org) – In a joint military exercise Russia and China flew nuclear-capable bombers through the Sea of Japan, continuing through the East China Sea and the Philippine Sea on Tuesday, during President Biden’s trip to eastern Asia.

The joint patrol lasted 13 hours and involved Russian Tu-95 strategic bombers and Chinese Xian H-6 jets.

Planes from the Japanese and South Korean air forces shadowed the Russian and Chinese jets for part of the exercise.

Tokyo conveyed “grave concerns” to both Russia and China through diplomatic channels, Kishi said at a news conference.  He characterized the incident as a likely provocation by both Beijing and Moscow on a day when Biden, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australia’s newly elected leader, Anthony Albanese, were meeting in Tokyo.

The drills, are the most significant cooperation between the two countries since Russia invaded Ukraine three months ago. Bomber exercises such as this cannot be planned quickly, and was likely planned well in advance by both countries . Chinese naval vessels also likely participated.

This is a sign that China has decided that they’ll continue to closely align themselves with Russia as it brutalizes Ukraine. While many other countries are trying to isolate Russia, it is also a sign that Russia will stand with China in the East & South China Seas.

(FreedomWire.org) – Speaking in Tokyo on Monday, Biden was asked about the US commitment to Taiwan. Biden said, “yes,” the US would intervene militarily to defend Taiwan if it came under attack from China. He said the US’s responsibility to protect the self-ruled island, was “even stronger” after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The US president went on to say, any attempt by China to use force against Taiwan would “just not be appropriate … it would dislocate the entire region and be another action similar to what happened in Ukraine”.

“America is committed to a one-China policy but that does not mean China has the jurisdiction to use force to take Taiwan,” Biden said, adding: “My expectation is that will not happen.”

A White House official walked back Biden’s remarks almost immediately.

“As the president said, our policy has not changed,” the spokesperson said. “He reiterated our One China Policy and our commitment to peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. He also reiterated our commitment under the Taiwan Relations Act to provide Taiwan with the military means to defend itself.”

There is a contradiction of what Biden said and the spokesperson. While Biden asserted he would intervene militarily, i.e. with the US military, his administration apparently wants to make it clear that we are only committing to providing military aid to Taiwan so it can “defend itself.” That’s significant in that it signals to China that the only thing we’d do is what we’ve been doing in Ukraine.
