(FreedomWire.org) – House Republicans are threatening to file contempt charges against FBI Director Christopher Wray after the agency failed during a closed-door meeting to hand over a document lawmakers subpoenaed.

House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer detailed how lawmakers are seeking a document from the FBI that allegedly details a “criminal scheme” involving then-Vice President Joe Biden and an unnamed “foreign national.”

Comer threatened to hit Wray with contempt charges.

“They don’t respect anyone in Congress,” Comer said on Fox News. “They’ve been able to get away with this for a long time. The media continues to turn a blind eye. The Senate Republicans continue to fund the FBI. Why would you change your business model when you’re getting everything you want?”

Comer requested the document from Wray on Friday, accusing the agency of interfering with his subpoena launched on May 3 with Iowa GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley. The bureau has yet to hand over the document.

“At today’s staff briefing with FBI officials, the FBI again did not produce the unclassified record subpoenaed by Chairman Comer. The Oversight Committee will announce the next steps soon,” said Jessica Collins, a spokeswoman for the committee.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said on Sunday that he is anticipating that the FBI will turn over a file that is believed to contain evidence of bribery involving President Joe Biden after a weeks-long impasse.

In an interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” the California Republican said the potential breakthrough came after he personally spoke with FBI Director Christopher Wray last week, the Daily Wire reports. The conversation pertained to the bureau’s failure to comply with a lawful congressional subpoena for the file.

“I explained to the director that we will do everything in our power, and we have jurisdiction over the FBI, that we have the right to see this document,” McCarthy said during the interview. “I believe after this call, we will get this document.”

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) issued a subpoena with a deadline of May 10 for the file. According to GOP investigators, whistleblower disclosures suggest the existence of a form completed by the FBI, outlining an alleged influence-peddling scheme involving Biden during his tenure as vice president and a foreign national.

On the day of the deadline, the FBI responded to the request, with an official declining to acknowledge the existence of the mentioned record. The response further cautioned against the release of “unverified or incomplete” information that could “harm investigations, prejudice prosecutions or judicial proceedings, unfairly violate privacy or reputational interests, or create misimpressions in the public.”

Even though Christopher Dunham, the acting Assistant Director for Congressional Affairs, expressed in his response a commitment to collaborate with lawmakers to address the issue, Comer appeared dissatisfied.

“It’s clear from the FBI’s response that the unclassified record the Oversight Committee subpoenaed exists, but they are refusing to provide it to the Committee,” Comer said at the time. “We’ve asked the FBI to not only provide this record, but to also inform us what it did to investigate these allegations. The FBI has failed to do both.”

(FreedomWire.org) – The House Oversight Committee dealt a massive blow to President Joe Biden and has subpoenaed phone records for a secret phone belonging to President Joe Biden that Hunter Biden’s business paid for.

Peter Schweizer, Government Accountability Institute President, revealed the subpoena in a recent interview. The GOP discovered the secret phone by looking through Hunter’s scandalous laptop.

Schweizer said: “We obtained that phone number and we’ve shared it with individuals and the Oversight Committee in Congress is going to subpoena those phone records.

“And what’s important here is that’s not a government phone, this is not Joe Biden’s private phone that he’s paying for himself. It’s actually [Hunter] Biden’s business that paid for it.

“I think it’s going to yield a lot of interesting information as to who Joe Biden was talking to on this phone that was being paid for by his son.”

“It’s very troubling — the pattern that we’re seeing here,” Schweizer said about the IRS whistleblowers getting taken off the Hunter Biden case.

“You have these whistleblower complaints filed by people in the IRS that were looking at Hunter Biden’s failure to pay taxes.

“They issued whistleblower complaint to Congress — the report is that those individuals had been removed from the case, which is contrary to the Whistleblower Law — you’re not allowed to remove somebody from their position just because they filed a whistleblower complaint.

“What happened in 2018 was the IRS looked into the fact that Hunter Biden had taken in all this foreign income, we exposed it in Secret Empires in 2018. That sort of launched the grand jury and you had this IRS investigation.

“And they basically concluded that Hunter Biden had taken in millions of dollars from foreign sources, had not paid taxes on it.

“You have this friend, this lawyer in Los Angeles that paid two million to the IRS to pay some of the back taxes, but the IRS was looking into charges of tax evasion.

“They went to congressional committees and complained that they believe there had been political interference from DOJ. I haven’t seen the details, but this was the claim.

“And now lo and behold, the IRS says we’re going to remove the team from investigating Hunter Biden, who had been on it now for what, five years, and we’re going to start apparently gonna have to start the whole thing over, so what does that mean to the investigation?

“What does that mean? I think it’s massive, but first of all.

“I think it’s illegal by the whistleblower statute. You cannot remove somebody from their position, simply because they made a whistleblower complaint.”

(FreedomWire.org) – House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY) unveiled nine members of President Joe Biden’s family he claims are implicated in dealings on behalf of foreign companies seeking to gain influence in American government.

Reading from his podium, Rep. Comer named the president’s son Hunter Biden, the president’s brother, the brother’s wife, the widow of deceased son Beau, Hunter Biden’s current wife, and three children of the president’s son and another three of his brother.

“So we’re talking about a grandchild. That’s odd. Most people who work hard every day don’t get a wire from a foreign national,” quipped Rep. Comer.

Since taking control of Congress in January, House Republicans have probed the president’s family and associates for partnerships with Chinese corporations and those of other countries which paid millions in dollars to Hunter Biden and colleagues through various limited liability companies.

Bank records obtained by the Oversight Committee and released in a report Wednesday show payments going back 14 years to when President Biden first assumed the Office of the Vice Presidency under former President Barack Obama. Rep. Comer previously claimed that up to a dozen members of the family might have been involved in attempts to profit off their access to power in Washington.

The scope of involvement by members of the Biden family on its face seems likely to have been on the president’s radar, though House Republicans continue to search for concrete evidence of his involvement. The White House is bracing for what is expected to be a series of charges against Hunter Biden for lying about his taxes and a gun purchase, the latter of which is a felony.

Rep. Comer faces a make-or-break moment in his efforts to uncover misdeeds by the president and must meet his own standard in claiming the investigation is tied to President Biden. Democrats are already gearing up to dismiss the findings as politically motivated, with ranking Oversight Democrat Jamie Raskin (D-MD) declaring, “There’s a lot of innuendo and a lot of gossip taking place and much of it is recycled from prior claims.”

(FreedomWire.org) – Kathy Chung, a former executive assistant to current President Joe Biden, testified behind closed doors to the House Oversight Committee on Tuesday, and according to committee chair James Comer, he learned a lot from her.

As previously reported, Chung oversaw the packing and shipping of the former vice president’s documents after he stepped down from office in early 2017.

This matters because it’s now known that the former VP turned president had taken classified documents with him and stored them in unsafe places.

Speaking on “Jesse Watters Primetime” late Tuesday, Comer started off by first reminding folks that the president is facing two congressional investigations.

“Remember, there are two investigations … that we’re conducting: Joe Biden, the influence peddling, and also his mishandling of classified documents. We brought Kathy Chung in today for a transcribed interview, and I want to thank Miss Chung publicly for working and cooperating with our committee and answering questions,” he said.

He then proceeded to tell the audience what he’d learned from Chung.

“We learned a lot. First of all, we learned that the documents didn’t just start mysteriously moving around in December of 2022 or November of 2022, like the White House has alleged. She said this dates back to May of 2022,” he began.

And so the White House lied.

“The documents were removed from the vice presidency to at least three different locations in a personal vehicle. We don’t know why they weren’t stored behind any lock. One of the locations was in Chinatown. Another location was in the Penn Biden Center, which might as well have been Chinatown, by looking at where their money was coming from,” Comer added.

Another location was Biden’s Delaware home.

Continuing his remarks, Comer again slammed the White House for lying to the American people.

“The White House has never been honest with the American people. Remember, we never would have found out about this in March of 2023 if someone hadn’t leaked it to the press that Biden was mishandling classified documents. So the White House then came back and said, yeah, that happened in November/December 2022. She just testified under oath that it happened in May of 2022,” he said.

Comer added that, thanks to Chung’s testimony, he now has even more questions than before.

“So there are more questions today than we’ve ever had, and this is ironically what the special counsel is apparently going after Trump next over. The next supposed indictment is going to be over his mishandling of classified documents. Look at what Joe Biden’s done,” he said.

“We don’t know how many locations he has. We don’t know what those documents were. We’re very suspicious that his son sent one of those in an email to Ukraine to his buddies at Burisma. Yet we don’t get any truthfulness out of the White House. This is another example of a two-tiered system of justice in America,” he added.

In a separate statement released after Chung’s testimony Tuesday morning, Comer repeated much of what he’d later say on Fox News:

“I thank Kathy Chung for her cooperation with the Oversight Committee’s investigation into President Biden’s mishandling of classified documents. She provided startling information that undermines the Biden White House’s narrative on the matter,” he said.

“Today we learned that when Joe Biden left the vice presidency, boxes containing classified documents, vice presidential records, and other items were stored in three different locations around the Washington, D.C. area, including an office near the White House, an office in Chinatown, and eventually the Penn Biden Center,” he added.

“At some point, the boxes containing classified materials were transported by personal vehicles to an office location. The boxes were not in a ‘locked closet’ at the Penn Biden Center and remained accessible to Penn Biden employees as well as potentially others with access to the office space. We need to find out who had access to these documents,” Comer concluded.

(FreedomWire.org) – In a letter sent to House Oversight Chairman James Comer on Sunday, the committee’s ranking Democrat, Rep. Jamie Raskin, revealed that Bank of America had been subpoenaed by Comer to provide records pertaining to three of Hunter Biden’s business associates. The subpoena was issued quietly.

According to a letter obtained by CNN, the subpoena was extensive and requested “all financial records” from 2009 to the present, spanning 14 years. Bank of America complied with the subpoena and provided a substantial amount of materials, as reported by a source familiar with the matter. The subpoena was directed at US citizen John Robinson “Rob” Walker and other individuals associated with Hunter Biden, who established a “joint venture” with executives from CEFC China Energy, a Chinese energy conglomerate that is now defunct.

However, Democrat Rep. Raskin expressed “deep concern” to Rep. Comer regarding investigations and criticized the “overboard” subpoena of a Hunter associate’s checking account. He further accused the Oversight panel of attempting to “bury” Trump’s tax information.

A bank subpoena is a legal request issued by a court or government agency to a bank, requiring the bank to produce financial documents or information related to a particular individual or organization. Bank subpoenas are typically used in criminal investigations, civil lawsuits, or regulatory actions to obtain evidence or information related to financial transactions.

The types of financial documents that can be requested through a bank subpoena include bank statements, account balances, transaction histories, loan documents, and other financial records. The information obtained through a bank subpoena can be used as evidence in court or as part of an investigation.

Banks are required to comply with subpoenas and provide the requested information, but they may seek to protect their customers’ privacy by challenging the subpoena or seeking to limit the scope of the request. Customers who are the subject of a bank subpoena may also have the right to challenge the request or seek to limit the disclosure of their personal financial information.

(FreedomWire.org) – Hunter Biden has until Wednesday 11:59 p.m ET to hand over documents to the House Oversight Committee related to his foreign business dealings or else face a potential subpoena from Republicans.

A spokesperson for the House Oversight Committee said that the committee has “received correspondence from the attorneys representing Hunter Biden and James Biden.”

“Oversight Committee staff will be in communication with them about Chairman Comer’s request,” the spokesperson said, adding that the committee is also in contact with the attorney for Eric Schwerin, James Biden and Hunter Biden’s business partner, “and expect him to start producing documents to the Oversight Committee soon.”

The committee this month asked Hunter Biden and Schwerin to turn over information and records related to Hunter’s foreign business dealings as Republicans probe whether members of the Biden family leveraged Joe Biden’s position as vice president to ”sell access around the world.”

“If President Biden is compromised by deals with foreign adversaries and they are impacting his decision-making, this is a threat to national security,” Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., said in a statement at the time.

“The American people deserve transparency and accountability about the Biden family’s influence peddling. The Oversight Committee is committed to exposing the waste, fraud and abuse that has taken place at the highest levels of our government. Hunter Biden, James Biden and Eric Schwerin’s documents, records and communications are critical to this investigation,” he added.

Rep. Pat Fallon, R-Texas., who sits on the Oversight Committee, said that a subpoena order would be a “last resort,” but said, “I think we’re really close to it, frankly.”

Hunter Biden’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, initially fired back at the committee’s request by saying it “lacks a legitimate legislative purpose.”

“As your Letter is a sweeping attempt to collect an expansive array of documents and communications from President Biden and his family, I write to explain that the Committee on Oversight and Accountability lacks a legitimate legislative purpose and oversight basis for requesting such records from Mr. Biden, who is a private citizen,” Lowell wrote.

“Rather than engage in back-and-forth letter writing campaigns or any formal proceedings, I would offer to sit with you and your staff, including the ranking member and his staff, to see whether Mr. Biden has information that may inform some legitimate legislative purpose and be helpful to the Committee. I hope that you will engage in this effort,” the attorney said.

Rep. Fallon believes Lowell’s offer to meet with the committee is just a “delaying tactic.”

Comer is also investigating potential links between Hunter Biden and the Chinese Communist Party. On Tuesday, he sent a letter to a letter to former U.N. General Assembly President Vuk Jeremic on his connection to the Biden family’s business dealings involving Patrick Ho, who is linked to China and was convicted on international bribery charges by the Department of Justice during the Trump administration.

“Mr. Jeremic’s previous testimony regarding business relationships with officials who participated in international bribery schemes raises red flags that there may be evidence showing the Biden family and associates peddled influence and attempted to sell access, including to individuals connected to the Chinese Communist Party,” Comer said.
