(FreedomWire.org) – The White House revealed in a Thursday briefing that Vice President Kamala Harris would lead a new “disinformation” task force.

“In the United States and around the world, women and LGBTQI+ political leaders, public figures, activists, and journalists are especially targeted by sexualized forms of online harassment and abuse, undermining their ability to exercise their human rights and participate in democracy, governance, and civic life,” the briefing read.

“Online abuse and harassment, which aim to preclude women from political decision-making about their own lives and communities, undermine the functioning of democracy,” it added.

Members of the new team only include current administration officials like Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Attorney General Merrick Garland, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.

The task force plans to hold its first meeting Thursday afternoon, where it will take the first step towards submitting an outline to President Joe Biden that addresses “technology-facilitated gender-based violence” on internet platforms, state and local governments, and schools. Another report featuring additional suggestions will also be issued next year.

Within 180 days, the panel will submit to President Biden a blueprint that “outlines a whole-of-government approach to preventing and addressing technology-facilitated gender-based violence, including concrete actions that executive departments, agencies, and offices have committed to take to implement the Task Force’s recommendations.”

Within a year, the board will issue a report with “additional recommendations and actions” advising broader steps that can be taken by Internet platforms, state and local governments and schools, the document says.

In April, Biden came under fire for the creation of what critics called a “dystopian” disinformation bureau under DHS, which many viewed as a way for the government to police free speech online.

Conservatives slammed the “Disinformation Governance Board” and noted its timing — coming after Elon Musk vowed to make Twitter a free speech haven through his $44 billion takeover of the social media platform notorious for selectively censoring right-leaning points of view.

On a Wednesday evening press call, a Biden administration official said the new task force contrasts with the Disinformation Government Board in that “we are particularly focused on online activities that are illegal conduct, such as cyber stalking or non consensual distribution of intimate images, or targeted harassment.”

However, the memo establishing the panel describes a broader mission and specifically invokes criticism of public figures — who in the US legal system have a more difficult time suing for defamation to allow room for political speech, and also because they sought out the spotlight.

(FreedomWire.org) – Federal agents have apprehended a cocaine-smuggling gang, and discovered a sophisticated cross-border tunnel almost a third of a mile long. Nearly a ton of drugs were seized during the operation, and six people were arrested. This is a major blow to the drug cartels, but how many more of these tunnels are operating?

Just after midnight on May 13, federal agents from Homeland Security Investigations were carrying out surveillance on a residence in National City, California, just outside San Diego. The agents followed one of the suspects to a San Diego warehouse about 300 feet north of the Mexican border. When they searched the warehouse, they discovered one end of a tunnel that turned out to be 1,744 feet long and 4 feet wide; the other end was under a house in Tijuana, Mexico. The steel-reinforced tunnel ran six feet below ground level and was equipped with electric lighting, a ventilation system and rails to move heavy loads. During the operation, agents arrested six people and seized 3.5 pounds of heroin, 164 pounds of methamphetamine, and 1,762 pounds of cocaine.

This tunnel is the first to be found since 2020, but it’s unlikely to be the only one in use. Last year, fatal drug overdoses in the US jumped by 15% as the country was swamped by a wave of illegal narcotics. The situation at our southern border is now a major emergency and the Biden administration needs to act.

(FreedomWire.org) – Some of the top Republicans in the House think they’ve found a way to strike at Biden’s disastrous border policies in an effective way: they’re going to impeach Alejandro Nicholas Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security, for “high crimes and misdemeanors.”

In fact, they’ve already written a resolution, H. RES. 582, to get the process for that going and start the impeachment ball. The resolution, describing in some of its early text why Mayorkas needs to impeached, accuses him of not doing his duty to defend and control the border, saying:

Alejandro Nicholas Mayorkas, in his conduct while Secretary of Homeland Security, engaged in a pattern of conduct that is incompatible with his duties as an Officer of the United States, as follows:

Secretary Mayorkas took an oath to defend and secure our country and uphold the Constitution when he was sworn in as Secretary of Homeland Security on February 2, 2021. Article II of the U.S. Constitution tasks the Executive branch—which today includes the Secretary of Homeland Security—with ensuring the laws passed by Congress and signed into law by the President are faithfully executed.

Secretary Mayorkas has failed to faithfully uphold his oath and has instead presided over a reckless abandonment of border security and immigration enforcement, at the expense of the Constitution and the security of the United States. Secretary Mayorkas has violated, and continues to violate, this requirement by failing to maintain operational control of the border and releasing hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens into the interior of the United States.

Secretary Mayorkas has willfully refused to maintain operational control of the border as required by the Secure Fence Act of 2006. His actions have directly led to an increase in illegal aliens and illegal narcotics, including deadly fentanyl, entering the United States.

That’s putting it quite bluntly: the team who wrote it isn’t dancing around the subject but rather means business and is openly accusing him of dereliction of duty.

Axios, reporting on how strong of a measure the resolution is, notes that “Only one Cabinet official has ever been impeached, according to the House historian.” That was a corruption-related dispute that took place during the Gilded Age.

And though the letter, written by Rep. Biggs, puts things so bluntly and leaves little room for compromise, 38 Republicans have co-sponsored it, ready to do what they see as their duty and stop Mayorkas from leaving the border open to illegal immigrant invasion.

McCarthy, however, left some room for compromise when speaking at the border in a press conference, saying “if someone is derelict in their job, there is always the option of impeaching somebody. But right now, he’s got 30 days.”

And while the resolution currently only has 38 co-sponsors, it could rally a good bit of GOP support: a letter recently sent to Mayorkas garnered 133 GOP signatures and it essentially made the same dereliction of duty claim, saying:

As you’ll notice, the reps make a similar argument that Mayorkas has so far disregarded the law in leaving the border open to invasion.

So, if he doesn’t change course and respond satisfactorily in the timeline given him by McCarthy, perhaps the resolution will pick up steam and Mayorkas will be impeached.
