gun rights

(FreedomWire.org) – There was a horrible shooting at an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in which five people were killed and 18 people were wounded.

The shooter had previously been arrested for felony menacing in 2021 but was somehow out free to allegedly commit this crime.

Right away the left were already trying to blame it – somehow – on people on the right.

Meanwhile, we don’t even know what was going on with the shooter yet; the police stated the “motive is not clear.”

That hasn’t stopped Joe Biden. He jumped in, ascribing the motive of “hate” and using the case to support his political agenda against guns.

President Biden on Sunday said the country “cannot and must not tolerate hate” and called for action on “the public health epidemic of gun violence” after a gunman killed five people and wounded 18 others at an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs, Colo.

“Places that are supposed to be safe spaces of acceptance and celebration should never be turned into places of terror and violence. Yet it happens far too often. We must drive out the inequities that contribute to violence against LGBTQI+ people. We cannot and must not tolerate hate,” Biden said in a statement. [….]

“We continue to see it in the epidemic of violence and murder against transgender women – especially transgender women of color. And tragically, we saw it last night in this devastating attack by a gunman wielding a long rifle at an LGBTQI+ nightclub in Colorado Springs,” Biden added.

It may turn out to be a “hate crime” but when you claim it is before the motive has been announced, then you are spreading misinformation–and quite frankly, lying–because you don’t know that to be the case.

Additionally, Biden likened the Colorado Springs shooting to the shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, “the deadliest attack affecting the LGBTQI+ community in American history.” Except that shooting wasn’t because the club was a gay club. It was because the shooter was looking for clubs to shoot up as revenge against the United States for actions in the Middle East; he was a radical Islamic terrorist.

Biden also used the shooting to try to push his anti-gun agenda. “We need to enact an assault weapons ban to get weapons of war off America’s streets,” Biden said. It’s also vile to seize upon the crime to automatically go into a reflexive anti-gun rant like this.

How about instead of blaming the gun, we blame the people who actually commit the crimes and make sure that violent people are locked up–rather than let out? That just might be too logical.

(FreedomWire.org) – Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, reassured a crowd at the National Rifle Association’s 2022 annual meeting on Friday in Houston, saying: ”For millions of Americans, the right to keep and bear arms is not theoretical” but ”a matter of basic security.”

”For a single mom in a dangerous neighborhood, it is a matter of basic security,” the senator said. ”Taking guns away from these responsible Americans will not make them safer, nor will it make our nation more secure.”

In the wake of the mass shooting this week at a Uvalde, Texas, elementary school, Cruz also called for increased security in schools, including single entrances and armed guards.

”There are best practices at federal buildings and courthouses where, for security reasons, they limit the means of entry to one entrance,” Cruz said. ”Schools, likewise, should have a single point of entry.”

”Fire exits should only open out. At that single point of entry, we should have multiple armed police officers or, if need be, military veterans trained to provide security and keep our children safe,” he continued.

Cruz emphasized the role the media and large corporations have played in pushing anti-gun rhetoric instead of addressing the broader cultural problems of the isolation in ”virtual life in the absence of community and faith and love.”

”The elites, who dominate our culture, tell us that firearms lie at the root of the problem,” Cruz explained. ”By elites, I refer to some of the most powerful politicians and their allies in the media. The leaders of the largest corporations and many of the most famous celebrities and those who echo and amplify them.

”Many of these same people make their accusations from behind great bulwarks of safety,” the senator added. ”From gated communities equipped with private security or, at the very least, from safe and expensive neighborhoods protected by high home prices and low crime rates.”

A bipartisan group of senators began meeting this week to discuss other ideas, including more stringent background checks, proposals to bolster school safety, and “red flag” laws that allow authorities to temporarily seize firearms from people who have been determined to be a danger to themselves or others.

(FreedomWire.org) – President Biden just established a new set of executive orders on gun control. He said “no amendment is absolute,” while maintaining that “nothing” he is recommending “impinges” on the Second Amendment.

“Today we’re taking steps to confront not just the gun crisis, but what is actually a public health crisis,” Biden said from the White House Thursday.

“Nothing, nothing I am about to recommend in any way impinges on the Second Amendment,” the president said, calling arguments suggesting that those constitutional rights are at stake “phony.”

“No amendment, no amendment to the Constitution is absolute,” he said. “You can’t yell ‘fire’ in a crowded movie theater — recall a freedom of speech. From the very beginning, you couldn’t own any weapon you wanted to own. From the very beginning that the Second Amendment existed, certain people weren’t allowed to have weapons.” He also said, “So the idea is just bizarre, to suggest that some of the things we’re recommending are contrary to the Constitution.”

The president stated that gun violence in the United States “an epidemic.”

“Let me say it again, gun violence in this country is an epidemic,” Biden said. “And it’s an international embarrassment.”

Vice President Harris added, “I’ve seen with my own two eyes what a bullet can do to the human body … and I’ve fought my entire career to fight this violence and to pass reasonable gun safety.”

“What are we waiting for? Cause we aren’t waiting or a tragedy… We’ve had more tragedy than we can bear,” she said. “The solutions exist… people on both sides of the aisle want action, real people … so all that is left is the will and the courage to act.”

Republicans, meanwhile, have expressed their suspicion of Biden’s agenda, which goes much further than the actions he is announcing Thursday. The president has said he supports an assault weapons ban, voluntary buybacks of assault weapons, wants to repeal a law that prevents gun manufacturers from being sued for crimes people commit with guns, and much more.

“By appointing the anti-gun Merrick Garland as attorney general and nominating David Chipman, formerly a senior staffer at the leading gun control lobby, to head ATF. Biden has made clear his sights are set on restricting the rights of law-abiding gun owners while ignoring criminals and foregoing substantive measures that will actually keep Americans safe,” the National Rifle Association (NRA) said in a statement.

“Further, the proposals Biden announced tonight could require law-abiding citizens to surrender lawful property and enable states to expand gun confiscation orders. The NRA will fight this nomination and ill-conceived executive actions,” the NRA stated.

(FreedomWire.org) – During a recent broadcast, Behar claimed that the U.S. Supreme court is about to ‘pass a bill’ on gun rights.

The Supreme Court does not pass bills, that’s the job of the legislative branch.

In the wake of the shooting on a New York City subway, the cast of ABC’s The View kicked off Wednesday’s edition of the show with absolutely insane anti-gun arguments. One guest claims “most” gun owners shoot themselves while co-host Joy Behar claimed there were 130 mass shootings this year. Dumber yet, Behar warned the Supreme Court was going to “pass a bill” over “New York City State laws” that would make everything “open carry.”

As part of the performance that would make any reasonable person ask “how dumb is this woman,” Behar interrupted an asinine conversation declaring states are going to permit-less carry. This just shows her ignorance of basic civics:

This is what Behar said:

The Supreme Court is poised to pass a bill contradicting the New York City State laws. We have very strict gun laws here, and they would like it to be apparently somebody has put it on their desk that New York should be an open carry state, and an open carry city with all of the density in this city. They want people running around with guns. People – middle-class people will be leaving in droves if that happens.

Democrats and the media often complain about disinformation.

Is there a bigger spreader of disinformation than the View?

(FreedomWire.org) – Instead of trampling on the Second Amendment, Democrats like Biden should toughen up on the offenders who use guns to facilitate illicit activity.

President Joe Biden told Americans on Monday that regulating firearms is the best way to combat rising violent crime in U.S. cities, but taking away the gun rights of law-abiding Americans doesn’t rein in criminals, especially those let off the hook by soft-on crime progressives.

Violent crime, often perpetrated using firearms, is on the rise in many American cities. In 2021 alone, at least 14 Democrat-controlled urban hubs reported all-time high homicide records.

Even though this historic crime streak is even plaguing cities with strict gun laws, the Biden administration wants gun parts, such as frames and receivers, to be serialized and regulated as regular firearms so they can be traced. This would require customers who purchase gun kits from retailers to undergo a background check like they would if they were buying an already-assembled firearm.

“All of a sudden, it’s no longer a ghost. It has a return address. It’s going to help save lives, reduce crime, and get more criminals off the streets,” Biden said.

What Biden failed to mention in his lie-riddled gun-control speech is that build-your-own guns make up a remarkably small portion of the firearms used to commit crimes in America. To put it in perspective, New York City police seized more than 6,000 illegal guns in 2021. Only about 200 of them did not have serial numbers.

New polling suggests that 61 percent of voters are not pleased with Biden’s handling of crime, so now the White House is clearly trying to take action to combat this negative perception with random rules ostensibly to curb gun violence. Chances are, however, any rules regulating so-called “ghost guns” won’t have the effect on crime that Biden claims they would.

Media outlets often frame the increase in guns without serial numbers as a big problem for crime-plagued cities, but the fact is that a large percentage of these criminals obtained their guns illegally.

A 2019 Department of Justice survey of imprisoned criminals found that at least 43 percent of offenders obtained their firearms via the black market. Only 10 percent made a purchase from a federally licensed firearms store, which is where Biden’s new rules would be enforced. In other words, Biden’s new gun rules won’t change the crime rates because his policies target purchasers who buy from gun retailers, not the black market.

Instead of trampling on the Second Amendment to supposedly combat rising crime, Biden should encourage members of his party and progressive judicial activists to toughen up on the offenders who use guns to facilitate illicit activity.

Earlier this year, California’s soft-on-crime Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation released from prison Smiley Allen Martin, one of the gunmen accused of going on a shooting spree in downtown Sacramento last week. Martin was arrested and sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2018 for domestic violence and assault. If not for his early release under the state’s prison capacity reduction plan, Martin would still be locked up.

Prosecuting and locking up offenders is pivotal in combatting crime, but it’s not something Biden or Democrats are focused on promoting.

In fact, for most of the last month, the White House has actively defended progressive criminal reform policies and people such as Biden’s Supreme Court pick Ketanji Brown Jackson who are guilty of using them to let dangerous offenders off the hook.

Taking away the gun rights of law-abiding Americans doesn’t stop dangerous criminals from obtaining firearms and committing crimes. Instead of trying to legislate crime off the streets, Biden and Democrats should focus on prosecuting and punishing offenders to the full extent of the law.
