(FreedomWire.org) – Republican Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana said Tuesday that Americans are wise to the deception practiced by President Joe Biden on the subject of illegal immigration at the southern border.

“President Biden talks a lot about democracy, as he should,” Kennedy said during an appearance on “The Faulkner Focus,” according to Fox News.

“Democracy depends on the mutual acceptance of the rules, norms and institutions. President Biden’s southern border policy has undermined that principle. He has completely opened the southern border, and he has looked the American people in the eye, and he has lied and said the border’s closed,” Kennedy said.

Customs and Border Protection has said that through August, there were 2,150,639 encounters along the southern border. With one month to go in the federal fiscal year, the number of encounters had already far surpassed the 1,734,686 recorded in the 2021 federal fiscal year.

When CBS dug into those numbers, it found that there are changes taking place in the nationalities of the illegal immigrants streaming across the border.

More than 25,000 Venezuelans were taken into custody in August, which was a record for illegal immigrants from the South American nation. The high tide also made Venezuela the second-ranking nation behind Mexico in terms of illegal immigrants crossing into the U.S.

CBS noted that when taken together, Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua made up over one-third of those arrested.

Kennedy said Americans do not “have a low tolerance for morons.”

“They don’t like being treated like a moron. They don’t like the president lying to them, and when they call the president out, they don’t like the president calling them Nazis and racists,” he said

Kennedy said Americans should not be slammed as anti-immigrant.

“Most Americans support legal immigration,” he said, noting that “the whole world wants to come here.”

“When is the last time you saw somebody trying to sneak into China? They want to come to America, and Americans support that,” he said, noting that more than 1 million people become citizens every year.

Kennedy said Americans know the difference between right and wrong.

“The American people feel that illegal immigration is illegal. I mean, ‘Duh,’” he said.

He said fearing for the nation’s safety is not evidence of bias.

“The American people look at the southern border like they look at their home,” he said.

“Most Americans lock their front door at night,” Kennedy said. “They don’t lock their front door at night because they hate everybody on the outside. They lock their front door at night because they love people on the inside, and they want to know who’s coming in and out of their house, and that’s the way most Americans look at the southern border.”

(FreedomWire.org) – President Biden will deliver a prime-time address Thursday on the fight for democracy in America and “the continued battle for the soul of the nation,” a White House official said Monday, an address that is likely to confirm his growing rhetorical emphasis on the anti-democratic forces he sees as capturing much of the Republican Party.

Biden is scheduled to deliver the GOP-bashing speech outside the Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia.

“He will make clear who is fighting for those rights, fighting for those freedoms, and fighting for our democracy,” the official said, adding that Biden will also tout what he sees as progress under his administration within the last two years.

The president’s visit to his native Pennsylvania for the prime-time speech will be his third visit to the battleground state in a week.

Biden, who has been ramping up travel ahead of November’s midterm elections, is set to make a speech on crime and gun safety in Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday. He will also attend a Labor Day parade in Pittsburgh next Monday.

His scheduled prime-time address will come exactly a week after he slammed MAGA philosophy as “semi-fascism” at a DNC rally in Maryland.

“We’re seeing now either the beginning or the death knell of an extreme MAGA agenda,” Biden told the crowd at a high school in Rockville.

“It’s not just Trump … It’s almost semi-fascism.”

Biden used the rally to urge Americans to turn out to the polls in November to fight off “extreme” Trump supporters.

The Republican National Committee criticized the president’s recent jabs at the GOP.

“Biden has pitted neighbors against each other, labeled half of Americans as fascist, and tarnished any idea of his promise of ‘unity.’ Families are left with a recession, high gas prices, and a nation on the wrong track,” RNC spokesperson Emma Vaughn said in a statement.

Thursday’s address, one of only a few Biden has given in prime time since entering the White House over a year and a half ago, is not being billed as a political speech. Additionally, the president may not repeat his stinging attacks on Trump and his legions of loyalists in the GOP.

However, the theme of working to protect the nation’s democracy and rule of law has been a common one for Biden dating back to the launch of his successful presidential campaign more than three years ago. He repeatedly noted that viewing the controversial and violent protests by White supremacists in Charlottesville, Virginia in 2017 motivated him to make a third White House bid.

The president’s choice of Philadelphia as the setting for his address comes as no surprise. Biden, in May 2019, held the first major rally of his successful presidential campaign in the city, which is located halfway between his native Scranton, Pennsylvania and his longtime hometown of Wilmington, Delaware.

Pennsylvania, long a crucial general election swing state, is home this cycle to crucial gubernatorial, Senate, and House showdowns.

The visits come as Biden’s poll numbers continue to rebound after sinking deep into negative territory over the past year, fueled in part by rocketing gas prices and record inflation. With prices at the pump continuing to fall, inflation slightly easing, and with a slew of recent legislative successes, the president’s approval ratings — while still well underwater — have edged up over the past month and a half.

(FreedomWire.org) – Former President Barack Obama said he has “little sympathy” for critics of cancel culture during a speech Friday in Denmark.

“Now I want to be clear. I have little sympathy for reactionaries who cynically condemn identity politics or cancel culture when really all they’re doing is trying to preserve existing privilege or excuse entrenched injustice, or bigotry,” Obama said at the Copenhagen Democracy Summit.

“The original identity politics is racism and sexism and homophobia. That’s nothing if not identity politics, and it’s done a lot more harm than some tweet from an aggrieved liberal,” he added.

The summit unites “democratic forces to push back on the authoritarian tide” and was inaugurated five years ago with President Joe Biden as the “inaugural keynote speaker.”

Obama was speaking at a session called “Democratic Organizing in the Digital Age” and discussed “challenges to democracy around the globe, the importance of a positive vision for democracy, and the promise and potential of the next generation of leaders to chart a better course.”

He said sometimes decisions should be pushed to the local and regional levels and energy should be dedicated to building a “democratic culture.”

“Those of us who promote democracy, we’re often progressive, we focus a lot on policy,” Obama said. “That’s not what moves people in the world. Emotions matter. Stories matter. People care about meaning and purpose and belonging and status.”

“Often it’s authoritarian leaders who understand this, and those who believe in democracy struggle to catch up,” he added.
