(FreedomWire.org) – A 2021 report by Open the Books revealed that the federal government paid over $548 million to informants in recent years. That’s over half a billion taxpayer dollars.

Federal agencies paid out at least $548 million to informants working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), in recent years, according to government audits.

A few informants became millionaires, with some Amtrak and “parcel” delivery workers making nearly $1 million or more.

The FBI paid approximately $294 million (FY2012-2018), the DEA paid at least $237 million (FY2011-2015), and ATF paid approximately $17.2 million total (FY2012-2015) to informants.

Our auditors at OpenTheBooks.com compiled this information by reviewing federal reports. While some of the data is several-years old; it’s apparently the most recent available.

The FBI spent an average of $42 million a year on confidential human sources between fiscal years 2012 and 2018. “Long term” informants comprised 20 percent of its intelligence relationships (source: DOJ IG 2019 report).

What’s worse is that the informants often commit crimes.

Federal informants often commit crimes, and often do it with the permission of their federal handlers, according to a 2015 audit by the General Accountability Office (GAO). In fact, the GAO reports:

“Since 1980, the Guidelines have permitted agencies to authorize informants to engage in activities that would otherwise constitute crimes under federal, state, or local law if someone without such authorization engaged in these same activities. For example, in the appropriate circumstance, an agency could authorize an informant to purchase illegal drugs from someone who is the target of a drug-trafficking investigation. Such conduct is termed “otherwise illegal activity.”

A few of theses FBI operatives have now become famous.

Stephan Halper, a crack cocaine addict, was paid over $1.05 million to spy on Trump associates and help set up the Trump-Russia hoax.

The FBI used at least 12 informants out of 15 individuals to plot, plan, pay for, and execute the Whitmer kidnap hoax.

(FreedomWire.org) – Just days after securing a win in his reelection bid to Congress, Rep. Jesus “Chuy” Garcia (D-Ill.) has announced that he will be running for mayor of Chicago.

In a campaign video released on Thursday morning before formally announcing his run for mayor, Garcia highlighted challenges like racial unrest, inflation, and the COVID-19 pandemic facing the city. The Democrat insisted that Chicagoans are “calling out for help.” Issues like unemployment, affordable housing, and crime have created “so much uncertainty” ahead, he said.

“People are still living paycheck to paycheck. Many live in fear of losing their homes, of losing their livelihood, of losing their loved ones. We need and deserve a safer, kinder, and more prosperous Chicago for all,” he said.

“It’s time for City Hall to work on behalf of all its people; a mayor that will bring us together and unite us, instead of driving us apart.”

Garcia was first elected to the Chicago City Council back in 1986 and became the first Mexican-American member of the Illinois State Senate in 1992. He ran for mayor in the 2015 race but ended up losing. In the 2018 election, Garcia won a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

By announcing his candidacy for mayor in the 2023 election, Garcia will be competing against incumbent Democrat Lori Lightfoot.

Garcia’s announcement comes as Chicago is reeling from a surge in crime. By late October, the overall crime rate was up 38 percent when compared to 2021, with car theft higher by 79 percent, theft by 61 percent, and burglary by 22 percent.

Amid Chicago’s crime rates, multiple companies have announced exits from the city. In May, Boeing said it was shifting from Chicago to Arlington, Virginia. Hedge fund Citadel moved to Miami, Florida. Tyson Foods announced it was moving to Springdale, Arkansas.

Betrayal Accusation, Election

Though Garcia said that he would run for mayor only on the condition that the GOP wins a majority in the House of Representatives, Lightfoot’s campaign still characterized his intention as a sort of betrayal.

In a statement, Lightfoot campaign spokeswoman Christina Freundlich called Garcia a “career politician” who is prioritizing his own personal ambitions, according to the Chicago Tribune.

“Now, a mere 36 hours after voters reelected him to Congress, and as Republicans prepare to use their new slim majority to strip away our rights, Mr. Garcia is abandoning ship and going after a fellow progressive.”

(FreedomWire.org) – NBC’s government affairs reporter Melissa Russo sat down with the Governor of New York, Kathy Hochul, for a one-on-one interview last week.

During the interview, Hochul was questioned by Russo regarding the gubernatorial debate that took place last month and the rising crime rates in New York.

Recall that Republican gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin won the debate with Democrat Kathy Hochul.

Zeldin performed well throughout the debate and hammered Hochul on New York’s crime problem.

Russo:  You said during the debate that Lee Zeldin is trying to scare voters. Does that mean that you think he’s exaggerating the crime problem?

Hochul: I think he is trying to scare voters and not offer a legitimate plan. You cannot say you’re tough on crime and be soft on guns.

Russo: And you often pivot to that point. But I’m just wondering, are you saying that he’s creating a worse impression of crime…

Hochul: No, what I’m saying is he does not have a serious crime plan…

Russo: Is there more to do on bail reform?

Hochul:  I took strong steps. I gave more discretion to judges, more power to district attorneys. It’s been in place a few months. I want it to work, but I’m absolutely willing to look at it all over again in the next session, if you find out that there’s areas still weakness.

NBC conducted informal interviews with New Yorkers to gauge public opinion on Hochul’s approach to the city’s rising crime rate; the responses were mostly negative.

“I care about Kathy Hochul being elected. I’m nervous about that because she wasn’t voted in,” One New Yorker told NBC.

“Bad people are going to get their hands on guns no matter how many laws you write. That’s why they’re bad people because they don’t follow the rules,” one man said.

“What is she doing? Making a mess. People are getting released on charges they should be in jail,” another woman told NBC.

Russo then asked Hochul about the subject of nonviolent crimes.

Russo: Not that long ago in New York, in our city, crime was down, incarceration was down, stop and frisk was down. How is it okay that we’re now seeing people who commit a dozen burglaries face zero consequences?

Hochul: That’s not okay. It’s not okay. That’s why I need the system to work with the laws we put in place. We changed the laws. Repeat offenders need to be held.

Then NBC fact-checked Hochul’s claim on released repeat offenders.

“But despite Hochul’s changes, repeat offenders are still being released because New York’s new laws still require judges to use the least restrictive bail. Meaning, even when bail is set, it’s set low,” NBC said.

Then on Friday MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle told Hochul that under her leadership, New Yorkers “don’t feel safe” during her show The 11th Hour on Friday.

“Here’s the problem. We don’t feel safe,” Ruhle said. “You might be working closely with Mayor Adams, you may have spent a whole lot of money, but I walk into my pharmacy and everything’s on lockdown because of shoplifters. I’m not going in the subway. People don’t feel safe in this town.”

Overall crime is up 34.4 percent across New York City, and has been surging at rates as high as 50 percent since 2020. Felony assaults in New York are up 17 percent.

Hochul, who supports cashless bail among other pro-crime policies, announced in August that criminals should be referred to as “justice-involved individuals.”

Millions of New Yorkers who ride the subway each day have to deal with a marked surge in violent crime, as the subways have seen marauders dressed in all green terrorizing straphangers, people thrown onto the tracks, and children being stabbed to death.

New York City subway riders say that personal safety and security are their number one concern while riding the transit system, according to data from a recent MTA survey.

“We’re worried we could be San Francisco,” Ruhle said.

San Francisco is also facing crime at a record-high, that is so severe that its downtown has become a barren wasteland and its inhabitants have fled at unprecedented levels.

(FreedomWire.org) – Former President Bill Clinton said on Wednesday that Republicans want people to be “miserable” and “angry.”

While campaigning for Democrat Josh Riley, who is running to represent New York’s 19th Congressional District, Clinton described Republicans as “pretty simple actually … and pretty straightforward. They say, ‘I want you to be very miserable'” as well as “‘very angry'” and to “‘vote for us and we’ll make it worse but we’ll blame them.'”

Republicans have relied on key issues such as crime rates, and inflation to boost their campaigns across the nation. Clinton, while he didn’t dispute Republican talking points, insisted that their rhetoric was nothing more than “tough talk.”

“Here’s the truth. We do have too much inflation, and we do have too much crime. But all this tough talk doesn’t amount to a hill of beans, that the Republicans are making,” he said.

Clinton then took aim at the prominent Republican Governors Ron DeSantis of Florida, and Greg Abbott of Texas calling out Republicans’ apparent paradoxical lamentations. Clinton said that in the states under the stewardship of the “two shining stars of the Republican firmament”, crime is “50 percent higher than it is in New York.” While this is true, Clinton failed to mention that the District of Columbia, and the state of New Mexico – both under Democratic governance – have significantly higher crime rates than Florida and Texas with D.C. taking the top spot in the whole nation. Cherry-picking statistics can create any narrative suitable for a particular argument.

“But wait, you can’t think, you’re supposed to be mad,” he added in an effort to redirect the ire of the constituency in attendance. Clinton then continued to echo a key Democrat talking point in these midterms by warning that if Republicans manage to take control of the House, they will slash the budgets of Medicare and Social Security.

These claims refer to Florida Senator Rick Scott’s proposal to sunset all federal legislation after five years in order to force Congress to pass new laws keeping them on the books, and the suggestion that key Republicans of the House that they would consider using next year’s debt-limit deadline to install new eligibility requirements for these popular programs. Scott maintains that he doesn’t “know one Republican” willing to axe Social Security.

Clinton went on to criticize the lack of support by Republicans for the boondoggle infrastructure bill, a bill that promised $1.2 trillion in spending, only $110 billion of which was allocated for roads and bridges. Clinton remarked that only 13 Republican members of the House of Congress voted to pass the bill, citing its lack of GOP support due to their aim of infuriating American citizens.

“Why? They gotta keep you upset, they gotta keep you angry,” the former president claimed.

In a 24-minute speech laden with jokes and folksy jargon, Clinton concluded to the crowd, “I want you to laugh because you can think when you laugh.” The midterm elections are forecasted to be rousing successes for the Republican party. If the Democrats lose control of the House and fail to win the tightly contested race that saw former president Bill Clinton stump for a relatively unknown candidate, it’s doubtful many will still be laughing.

(FreedomWire.org) – First lady Jill Biden claimed in an interview that her son, Hunter Biden, is innocent of any crime.

“Everybody and their brother has investigated Hunter,” she said in an interview with NBC News. “They keep at it, and at it, and at it. I know that Hunter is innocent.”

Hunter is under federal investigation for tax crimes and lying on a federal form to purchase a gun. He will also face investigations of his foreign business deals if Republicans win majorities in Congress.

But Jill Biden dismissed all of it.

“I love my son, and I will keep looking forward,” she said.

The Biden family continues to defend Hunter, insisting he did nothing wrong.

“I have great confidence in my son,” President Joe Biden said in a recent interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper. “I love him and he’s on the straight and narrow, and he has been for a couple years now. And I’m just so proud of him.”

Information about Hunter Biden’s shady foreign business deals continues to leak into the press.

Some would commend Jill Biden for supporting Joe and Hunter Biden; after all, they’re her husband and stepson respectively. The truth, however, is that she’s an enabler, and continuing to prop up a frail old man and encourage him to run again is bad for the nation as he drives the U.S. into the ground. Her defense of Hunter, meanwhile, just comes across as brainless; she could support him without saying something as ludicrous as “he’s innocent.” Nobody believes that and if Republicans win the House in November, they’ll surely investigate and we’ll hopefully find out.

(FreedomWire.org) – Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) slammed President Joe Biden’s policies, saying they have “screwed up” the United States.

Appearing on Fox News’s Jesse Watters Primetime Wednesday, Kennedy blasted Biden’s infrastructure bill as being “emblematic of a larger problem.”

The $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which was touted by the Biden administration as a major bipartisan achievement that will create jobs and provide much-needed funding for roads, bridges, water projects, and broadband access, passed Congress in August 2021.

“The American people have learned over the past 20 months that if you want something screwed up, President Biden is your man,” Kennedy said. “It has been 20 months of misery and vexation and Homer Simpson goes to Washington. I mean, pick your issue. The infrastructure bill, COVID, crime, the border, Congress, the economy, inflation, gas prices, Afghanistan, baby formula, for God’s sakes.”

“That’s why, based on the polling, you can see it,” Kennedy continued. “A majority of Americans believe that if you put the Biden Administration in charge of the Sahara Desert, it would quickly run out of sand.”

Kennedy, who is running for reelection in the Senate and is heavily favored to win, also said the “wokers” with whom Biden surrounds himself have turned him into a laughable caricature.

“The journalism professors with their comment-worthy man purses, experts like James Taylor and Vice President Harris — these people have way more zeal than wisdom,” Kennedy said. “They have turned our president into a caricature of this nice elderly gentleman — maybe on a day pass from a nursing home — happily eating ice cream and wandering around the country saying, ‘Well, the economy is slowing and prices are rising, and your 401Ks are crashing because the economy is so good and my policies are so good.’ And nobody is believing it. Because it’s not true.”

A new battleground election tracker released earlier this week showed many voters are not satisfied with the direction of the country and blame Biden. More than 70% of voters said the Biden administration’s policies are responsible for the current state of the economy, with 45% saying it is to blame “a great deal.”

(FreedomWire.org) – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” that she dismissed a poll saying Americans’ top concerns going into the November midterm that Americans are most concerned about inflation and crime.

Mitchell said, “Let’s talk about rising inflation concerns along with crime, giving momentum, new momentum to Republicans after the Democrats were closing the gap, the historic gap. After the Supreme Court ruling, there was huge outrage. That has seemed to subside, at least among overriding concerns. Despite all the legislative accomplishments, and I want to cite them, I want to say it’s been an extraordinary session. You and the president have done so much in terms of domestic concerns, the economy. So why do you think the president hasn’t gotten it through to the voters?”

Pelosi said, “Well, first of all, let me say that I think that much of what you’ve said I don’t agree with, that is to say, the New York Times poll, I think is an outlier poll, you cite one poll, but all the other polls —”

Mitchell said, “It’s also the RealClearPolitics average is showing similar issues.”

Pelosi said, “No, but that was one that brought down the average, and it was an outlier. It wasn’t even that big a sample. So I dismiss that. I have been since Congress adjourned, I’ve been in an average of five states a week. And I can tell you that women’s concerns about their freedom are very, very much still very significant in terms of how they will vote.”

Pelosi went on to claim that inflation was a global issue but then admitted that part of the problem originated with the policies of President Joe Biden.

Then Pelosi went on to suggest that Democrats should say whatever they need to say in order to win in the Midterms. “I say just win baby, just win, if that is what you need to say to win, fine.”

Probably the most out of touch thing she claimed was that President Biden has done a “spectacular job.”

(FreedomWire.org) – Fox News White House Correspondent Peter Doocy pressed White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on rising crime rates throughout the U.S. on Monday.

Doocy asked if President Joe Biden believes American cities are “safe” with crime rates continuing to rise in certain areas of the country. He cited statistics from an article published by The New York Times titled, “A Shift in Crime,” indicating that crime has remained at record highs in the past year.

“Does Biden think America’s big cities are safe?” Doocy asked. “We know that deaths and robberies are up about 20% in the first half of this year so I’m wondering if he thinks America’s big cities are safe?”

“Are you talking about The New York Times story, specifically? Is that what you’re referring to?” Jean-Pierre asked.

“They had some stats. The murder rate is still 30% above its 2019 level, they’re all from the Council on Criminal Justice.”

Doocy then cited the shooting of Washington Commanders rookie running back Brian Robinson and the home robbery of Democratic California Rep. Karen Bass. Doocy noted that if high profile figures are at risk then ordinary Americans likely also fear for their safety.

Jean-Pierre said the president secured “historic funding” toward law enforcement in the American Rescue Plan and blamed current crime statistics on former President Donald Trump’s administration.

“This is a president who has secured historic funding to make sure that law enforcement has what it needs and he was able to do this in the face of opposition from Republicans,” she said. “During a time where he inherited a rising crime rate from the previous administration, the president put forth the American Rescue Plan and in that very plan there was more than $300 billion to go to local states and local cities to make sure that they were able to hire law enforcement, to hire firefighters, they were able to hire people that were critical to their needs as they were dealing with a pandemic. Republicans voted against that.”

When Doocy then repeated his question, the press secretary emphasized the importance of highlighting the president’s actions in combating crime in cities and communities throughout the country. He then cited former White House press secretary Jen Psaki on “Meet the Press” on Sunday saying that “crime is a huge vulnerability for Democrats.”

“Why would she say that?” he asked.

“I can’t do electoral politics from here, as you know. But I kind of don’t agree with your characterization of what she actually said. But I’ll say this and I’ve already said this already, the past few months what we’ve been able to do is create a pretty much clear split screen of what we are doing to deliver for the American people and what Republicans refuse to do,” she said. “We are making sure that we have Medicare and Social Security and we make sure that the Big Pharma is not upping cost for our seniors and making sure that we give them a little bit of breathing room.”

(FreedomWire.org) – Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) joined Maria Bartiromo on Sunday Morning Futures to discuss the growing Biden Family Crime Syndicate.

Ron Johnson accused Joe Biden of funneling money to his son Hunter Biden to pay for the Eastern European prostitutes involved in a possible human trafficking ring.

Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland is covering up all of these crimes and ignoring this lawlessness by the First Family.

Senator Johnson said, “Hunter Biden was well aware of the fact that his activities were red flags and certainly could have triggered suspicious activity reports to the Treasury Department… Again this is information off of his own laptop, off of iCloud backup from his iPhone. But he was highly concerned about payments he was making to nonresidents, people who appear to be East European prostitution or human trafficking ring. That those were going to flag, those type of transactions. Of course, we’re seeing that Joe Biden apparently paid $30,000 to $100,000 maybe unwittingly. But he continued to funnel money into Hunter Biden. The fact of the matter is Hunter Biden’s computer is a treasure trove of information…

…We don’t have equal justice, we have a two-tiered justice system. One that will treat with kid gloves or cover-up for Democrats and their powerful friends, the elites – and the rest of Americans. We’re seeing that big time with Hunter Biden… Senator Grassley and I, we have the bank records now. We’ve shown them on the Senate floor. They show highly suspicious activity. That I don’t think the Justice Department is doing enough to potentially prosecute.”

Senator Johnson then unloaded on the Biden’s saying, “This is a huge scandal. The American public deserves the truth because it is putting at risk our national security because we have a compromised president who has lied repeatedly to the American public, saying he never talked to Hunter about his overseas business transactions. We actually have voice mails from off of these computers… We know the FBI had Hunter Biden’s computer in December 2019. What have they been doing with it?… Our FBI, our Justice Department hasn’t really done squat.”

(FreedomWire.org) – Last summer, Democratic Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon doubled back on the short sentence given to a minor hit-and-run motorist who ran down a mother and her newborn while walking down a Venice side street – and the victim is calling him out.

“After evaluating the evidence, our office prosecuted the juvenile with the most serious violations allowed by law: two counts of felony assault and one count of felony leaving the scene of an injury accident without exchanging information,” the besieged district attorney said Monday.

In a withering reply, the victim, who has asked to be identified only by her first name Rachel, said the allegations “fell extremely short of fair.”

On Monday, Democratic Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon said that “misinformation” is circulating about a youngster who admitted to mowing down a mother and her newborn. (AFP photo/Robyn Beck | Los Angeles County)

“You didn’t prosecute attempted murder because the driving pattern proves it, and you didn’t charge assault with a deadly weapon with a car because it would be a strike on the minor’s record,” she said in a message to the besieged DA on Monday.

“Minors are not eligible for charges that result in a strike offense under your policies.” This is how you ensure that when they turn 18, their records can be wiped clean. That must be the magical number at which people begin to behave as decent human beings and contribute to society. “It doesn’t seem to matter what comes before that.”

Critics who have prosecuted hit-and-run cases have suggested that more serious charges may be brought.

“Gascon’s testimony is false for multiple reasons,” said Neama Rahmani, a former federal prosecutor who now works as a plaintiff’s lawyer and has tried hit-and-run cases in both criminal and civil courts.

“The defendant was charged with assault inflicting grave bodily injury, which isn’t a’strike’ under California’s three strikes legislation, when he could have been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, which is a strike,” he said Monday on Fox News Digital. “Under California law, a vehicle can be used as a lethal weapon.”

He said that the suspect might have been charged with a variety of other felonies, including driving under the influence and car theft.

The driver, now 17, was sentenced to five to seven months in a juvenile probation camp, which is “less than a military school and a little rougher than a summer camp,” according to authorities. The sentence was termed by Gascon’s office as “an suitable settlement” on Friday.
