(FreedomWire.org) – After a group of staffers who work for late-night TV host Stephen Colbert were arrested late Thursday for illegally entering the U.S. Capitol Building, new details emerged that implicated some Democratic lawmakers in the incident, including House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff of California.

The staffers were arrested by U.S. Capitol Police who were responding to reports that they were in an area where U.S. House members’ offices are located without proper authorization.

The group of seven people were arrested in the Longworth House Office Building after being escorted out of the Jan. 6 committee hearing earlier in the day because they did not have proper press credentials, according to sources.

The same group resurfaced later on Thursday night after the Capitol complex was closed to public visitors and took videos and pictures around the offices of two Republican members of Congress, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy R-Calif. and Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo.

A senior source in the U.S House of Representatives said that seven individuals associated with Stephen Colbert’s show were arrested.

“Members of Colbert’s team could have been in House office buildings if they were invited, which they were. Fox News is told that Colbert’s team conducted interviews earlier on Thursday with members of the Jan. 6 Committee, including Reps. Adam Schiff, D-Calif. and Stephanie Murphy, D-Fla. They also interviewed Rep. Jake Auchincloss, D-Mass.,” the report continued.

During his Friday monologue, Fox News host Tucker Carlson accused Rep. Schiff of allowing the group into the Capitol and accused the group of insurrection.

“Last night, producers for Stephen Colbert’s CBS show committed insurrection at the United States Capitol, he said. “[Democratic U.S. Representative] Adam Schiff illegally gave producers from CBS access to the Capitol. And then the group… remained in the Longworth House Office Building after hours.”

“It is likely that some members of Stephen Colbert’s team will be held in solitary confinement for a year and half without being charged,” he said. “Because this is an insurrection. And actually, joking aside, how could they not be held? … The precedent is in place.”

“It’s exactly like what happened on January 6th,” he said. “So, we’ll take a close look at what the punishments are.”

Carlson was not the only person to compare the story to January 6, 2020.

Capitol Police told the network they received a call about a disturbance in the congressional building around 8:30 p.m. Thursday evening. After officers responded, the seven members of Colbert’s staff were arrested. Police say additional charges could be filed.

“On June 16, 2022, at approximately 8:30 p.m., U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) received a call for a disturbance in the Longworth House Office Building.  Responding officers observed seven individuals, unescorted and without Congressional ID, in a sixth-floor hallway,” said a statement from the department.

“The building was closed to visitors, and these individuals were determined to be a part of a group that had been directed by the USCP to leave the building earlier in the day,” the statement added. “They were charged with Unlawful Entry. This is an active criminal investigation, and may result in additional criminal charges after consultation with the U.S. Attorney.”

As spokesperson for CBS told Fox News: “On Wednesday, June 15 and Thursday, June 16, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog was on-site at the Capitol with a production team to record interviews for a comedy segment on behalf of ‘The Late Show.’ Their interviews at the Capitol were authorized and pre-arranged through Congressional aides of the members interviewed.

“After leaving the members’ offices on their last interview of the day, the production team stayed to film stand-ups and other final comedy elements in the halls when they were detained by Capitol Police,” the spokesperson added.

The staffers “tried weeks ago to get credentials for the 1/6 committee hearings,” Fox News correspondent Chad Pergram tweeted. “The House Radio/TV Gallery rejected the request from the Colbert team out of hand because they are not ‘news.’”

Many have speculated that the cause of the violence at the Capitol stems from Antifa agent provocateurs. And now a report from none other than CNN seems to confirm, at least, that this is a possibility. Though the January 6 rally got out of hand, it didn’t even closely resemble any past Trump-related protests. Typically, there is no violence, no illegal activity, nothing like that. In fact, elements of it bear a closer semblance to Black Lives Matter riots than to any Trump rally. Despite this, the media has been pushing the narrative that January 6 was all President Trump and his supporters’ fault.

CNN, in a report intended to mock Trump supporters, let some interesting information slip. For instance, nearly 5% of those arrested didn’t vote in the election. But the “news” organization revealed something more damning: many of the alleged Trump supporters who were arrested are registered Democrats:

To determine who voted in November, CNN obtained voting records for more than 80 of the initial arrestees. Most voted in the presidential election, and while many were registered Republicans, a handful were registered as Democrats in those jurisdictions that provided party information — though who someone votes for is not publicly disclosed. Public access to voter history records varies by state, and CNN was unable to view the records of some of those charged.

Sure, most of the mostly peaceful crowd were Republicans who voted for President Trump. But a lot of them were Democrats who showed up for some reason and did things to get themselves and others arrested. It its own, this information proves nothing. But when one considers that BLM activist John Sullivan tweeted about busing people in, it begins to look, as Lewis Carroll wrote, “curiouser and curiouser.”

We may never know to what extent Antifa activists were responsible for the illegal activity at the Capitol, but one thing is for sure: no Democrat would attend a Trump-related event without motives that are not 100 percent ulterior.
