(FreedomWire.org) – Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is under fire from fellow Democrats for flight delays and cancellations that have paralyzed the nation’s airports, wrecked holiday travel plans and caused Americans undue financial stress.

Progressive lawmakers, in particular, say Mr. Buttigieg needs to do more to rein in airline companies that have taken billions in public subsidies since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

“It’s time for the Transportation Department to impose massive fines on poor-performing airlines,” said Sen. Bernard Sanders, a self-described socialist from Vermont.

In an email to supporters, Mr. Sanders called on the White House and Mr. Buttigieg to require airlines to refund passengers for flights delayed more than an hour. For flights delayed longer than that, Mr. Sanders said the Department of Transportation should fine airlines $55,000 per passenger.

“Thousands of flight disruptions have left passengers and crew members stranded at crowded airports from one end of the country to the other forcing them to miss weddings, funerals, and business meetings and ruining family vacations that have been planned for months in advance,” said Mr. Sanders.

Ahead of the Fourth of July, more than 1,700 flights were canceled on Sunday alone, while 23,900 were delayed, according to FlightAware. Airline giants like United and Delta said the problem arose mainly because of an inability to properly staff flights.

Mr. Buttigieg responded to the melee by taking to social media on Sunday to urge passengers to be smart and consider accepting airline miles, rather than cash, for delayed or canceled flights.

“Sometimes an airline will offer you points or miles as compensation, but you are entitled to a cash refund when your flight is canceled,” he tweeted. “When deciding whether to accept miles, it’s helpful to know their value, which varies, but often is estimated at 1 to 1.5 cents per mile.”

Fellow Democrats say that Mr. Buttigieg holds at least some responsibility for the problem and should be doing more than just giving travel tips.

“The Transportation Department’s incremental response so far has been lacking the urgency, imagination, and boldness to meet the moment and needs of the American people,” Rep. Ro Khanna, California Democrat, wrote in a letter to Mr. Buttigieg ahead of the holiday weekend.

(FreedomWire.org) – Democrat Senator Bernie Sanders, is just about the farthest left politician in today’s political arena. He’s describe himself as a “democratic socialist.”

Over the years, it seems he has become more and more hypocritical, no doubt as he gained more and more wealth and influence, both things that, as a socialist, he swears shouldn’t be a thing.

He recently took a trip to Pennsylvania to show support and endorse far-leftist Pennsylvania Representative Summer Lee. What threw people off, is that he did so sitting in a first-class seat.

According to Fox News, “Sanders, masked up, appears to be sitting near the front of the plane in photos obtained by a fellow first-class passenger.”

It may not seem like a big deal for a man as high up on the political food chain and with as much name cred as Bernie Sanders to fly first class.

But for a self-declared socialist, a big deal is precisely what this is.

And it’s made into an even bigger deal by the fact that he was flying to go support another socialist candidate, and one Sanders told WTAE-TV would work hard to “fight” for the working and middle class, as well as their families.

According to Sanders, America’s working class is struggling, and that means we need people in Congress, supposedly like Lee, who will stand up for their rights and fight to make their lives better. Now, to be sure, America’s working class is struggling a bit, as the economy is in dire straits, and we have a president who only seems interested in raising taxes and gas prices. And having better representation in Congress would be great.

However, representatives who believe that capitalism is wrong, as Sanders supposedly does, may not be the right way to go about this.

I mean, these are people that believe wealth is essentially a plague on our nation and one that is robbing us blind. If those like Sanders and Lee were in charge, we’d all be living in the same type of home, driving the same cars, making the same amount of money, working a government-funded job, and sending our kids to learn in socialist taught schools where dreams are squashed, and the lesson of every day is that you are just a number to serve the greater good.

Joe Biden’s main Primary opponent has spoken out, and Democrats are not going to like what he has to say about who really is holding up COVID-19 aid to the American people. Though Democrats’ narrative says that Republicans are depriving Americans of a COVID relief package, Sanders says that is not the case at all.

Sanders told CNN host Jake Tapper on Monday that Democrats are playing games with the stimulus, refusing to get behind a $1.8 trillion proposal from President Trump yet supporting a smaller, $908 billion package. Asked whether it was a mistake for Democrats to refuse to work with President Trump, Sanders was very clear where he stands on the issue: “That’s right. … That’s what I’m saying.”

However, the former presidential candidate has issues with the current plan too. “What we need is a compromise,” Sanders said. “I know I can’t get everything that I want. But this bill really is not a compromise.” According to Sanders, it “gives the Republicans almost everything that they wanted.”

But what Republicans want isn’t exactly unreasonable. The bill will give small businesses $300 billion in funding through the Paycheck Protection Program. It will also provide $240 billion in aid for state and local governments, $300 billion to increase unemployment benefits, and more. While there is no stimulus check, this bill will provide immeasurable help to the American people — especially small business owners.

“Democrats talked about over $3 trillion in new money to help working families in this country, so I don’t think this is much of a compromise,” Sanders told CNN, noting that the bill is missing direct payments to Americans. “I think we have got to do a lot better and negotiate a lot harder.”

Sanders says his ideal proposal would include $1,200 for adults and $500 for children. “We don’t have it and I’m going to fight to see we get that included,” he says.” Whether or not Sanders likes the current proposal, he agrees that Democrats’ gamesplaying is bad for America. And unfortunately, we may see four years of it with Joe Biden as President.
